Thoughts on LAX Shooting

“Everyone who is not happy must be shot.”

“I learned a long time ago that there is something worse than missing the goal, and that's not pulling the trigger.”

“Stupid deer," I said, embarrassed about being startled. "We need a ladder."

"I think they're easier to shoot with a rifle."

“It’s what happens when you shoot someone,” Wayne pointed out. “At least, usually someone has the good sense to get dead when you go to all the trouble to shoot them.”

“Anytime I hear about another one of us gone berserk, shooting up his ex’s office or drowning her kids to free herself up for her Internet boyfriend, the question I always ask is not, like every other tongue-clucking pundit in the country, how could this have happened? but why doesn't this happen every day?”

We learn nothing.

“This is going to be some hard hairy work pork. There's going to be more shooting more people are going to die, now I didn't start this, but I'm going to see it through.”

“Jamie DeCurry had once proclaimed that Roland could shoot blindfolded, because he had eyes in his fingers.”

“Are you prepared then, to shoot a human being?" he asked, trying not to let Jenny sense his own internal unease. "It's not the same as shooting a duck or gazelle."

Jenny's violet eyes met his straight on. "If that human being was about to harm any one of us, I'd feel worse about shooting the duck. It, at least, would have done nothing to deserve a bullet.”

“George grinned. 'A pity you're perfectly dreadful at shooting.'
Aubrey shrugged. 'I've had all the lessons. I'm adequate.'
'Adequate? I suppose it depends on what you mean. If you mean that you haven't actually shot yourself by accident, then by all means describe yourself as adequate.'
George laced his fingers together and placed them on his chest. ''I'll come, then I might be able to spare you some embarrassment.'
'I'm honoured.”

“I'm a disgruntled ex-civil servant, and I'm armed. If you don't process my license right now I'm going to start making small, yet significant holes in people.”

“...when one considers that there are more than 750,000 police officers in the United States and that these officers have tens of millions of interactions with citizens each year, it is clear that police shootings are extremely rare events and that few officers--less than one-half of 1 percent each year--ever shoot anyone.

“His fear-inflamed mind sent the control-signal to his finger-joint to fold back. The trigger sliced back. The blast seemed to lift the booth clear off the floor, drop it down again. A pin-wheel of vacancy appeared in the glass, flinging off shards and slivers.”

Connaught Place Janpath New Delhi India

It may not be the place where Marilyn Monroe lived but it s the place where Sonia Gandhi lives. And Narendra Modi hopes to live after the 2014 elections. Obama may not be living here but Manmohan Singh lives here. And here is where Mahatma Gandhi,Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi lived. In the modern times it may be a place not frequented by Brad Pitt,Angelina Jolie,Tom Cruise,Leonardo and Scarlet Johansson, but the Bollywood celebrities like Shahrukh,Salman,Amir,Deepika Padukone,Katrina Kaif,Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor have their eyes on. This is the place which has ultimately attracted the ultimate cricket star Sachin Tendulkar for his second career in politics. This is the place called Janpath and Connaught Place in the central part of New Delhi. These are the centres of power and business respectively. And here is where such incidents are never likely to occur, but it occurred nevertheless.
